The Drinks

Want to compliment your boat ride with a low-calorie 4th of July drink? Try this yummy sangria recipe to make the most of your celebration! It’s a little sweet and a little tart; the perfect complement for a hot day.

Red, White, and Blue Sangria

sangria

Ingredients:

1 bottle of an inexpensive, white wine (I like a bottle of Sav Blanc)

1 bottle of chilled Prosecco (again, go for an inexpensive bottle)

1 cup raspberries

2 cups strawberries

2 cups blueberries

Any other fruit that you enjoy (an all-American apple maybe?)

¼ cup fresh lemon juice

Orange juice to taste

Simple syrup to taste

Directions:

Combine all of the ingredients except for the Prosecco in a pitcher or punch bowl. Allow the mixture to refrigerate for at least 2 hours. The longer you let it chill, the more the flavors of the fruit will stand out. When ready to serve, add the prosecco, stir, and enjoy!

The Food

Cooking out is a staple of any 4th of July celebration, but calories add up throughout the day. A great way to balance is to opt for grilled chicken or fish, paired with any of these delicious low-calorie marinades:

Hawaiian Marinade: Canola Oil + Pineapple Juice + Smoked Sea Salt

Sriracha Marinade: Canola Oil + Seasoned Rice Vinegar + Sriracha + Honey

Margarita Marinade: Olive Oil + Lime Juice + Kosher Salt + Agave + Tequila

Have a Happy 4th of July, Barre Babes!
