Meet the Lowcountry Food Bank

Our October BE Local Love nonprofit of the month! Join us in support of their incredible work and let’s spread the BE Local Love. Here’s how you can help make a difference this month:

  • Barre Evolution will donate on behalf of any students that reach 250, 500, and 1000 class milestones
  • Participate in our donation-based Community Class on October 22 (2+ donated items to attend)
  • Help us collect most needed items such as peanut butter, tuna and canned vegetables.

Lowcountry Food Bank Facts:

  • The LCFB will distribute 24 million pounds of food in 2015—5 million pounds of which is fresh produce
  • The LCFB serves 200,000 children, adults and seniors throughout the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina
  • 1 in every 4 children in our community experiences hunger
  • Every dollar donated creates 6 meals for our community
  • Nearly 50% of the people we serve are children and seniors
  • 75% of our clients chose between purchasing food and paying for medicine or medical care
  • 72% of our clients choose between paying for utilities and purchasing food
  • Three things you can do to help: volunteer, host a food drive, donate

About Lowcountry Food Bank:

The Lowcountry Food Bank serves the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina and aims to distribute more than 24 million pounds of food each year.  The Lowcountry Food Bank is a clearinghouse for donated food products that are distributed to a network of nearly 300 member feeding agencies including soup kitchens, homeless shelters and emergency food pantries.
